Over the last two weekends, law enforcement from across the region participated in Operation Safe Crossing for Spring Break 2001.  During this operation, police checked IDs for youth under the age of 18 attempting to enter Mexico, detained those with false identification and enforced curfew.   In addition, police implemented stronger enforcement of alcohol and public safety laws and arrested intoxicated pedestrians and drivers.

Following are the numbers from the Spring Break operation.   Data shows that approximately 8,000 people cross the border between Midnight and Six am every Friday and Saturday night.
