| The
San Diego-Tijuana Border Project, initiated in 1997,
is a multi-pronged community based prevention project
designed to reduce public health and safety problems
(see problem
identification) associated with cross-border underage
and high-risk drinking between the cities of the San
Diego and Tijuana. |
| The
project uses an environmental prevention model built
upon the San Diego County Prevention Framework that
seeks policy solutions using the integration of media
advocacy, science, community organizing and law enforcement
/ community partnerships as tools within the process. |
| Project
accomplishments include development of a binational
partnership between San Diego and Baja California, and
reductions both in numbers and blood alcohol concentration
levels (BAC>=.08) of late night partiers returning
from Mexico |
